Happy Winter Solstice
I hope this blog post finds you well, happy and enjoying your holidays! I was honoured with the request to create a painting for the first Sunday of Advent to be shared with the congregation of my church... The theme was 'Hope.'
This is the painting I created. It was a lot of fun to make. I did a lot of the painting as a demonstration for my Adult Acrylic Creations painting class in Ajax... I was thrilled with the beautiful artwork that my students created in response to my suggestions for this project...
I have been deeply inspired by a book called 'Hope for the Flowers...' It is a very profound book about a couple of caterpillars called 'Stripe' and 'Yellow.' In the actual book, the caterpillars are illustrations in a very sweet cartoon style. I choose to make my 'Stripe' and 'Yellow a little bit more realistic... inspired by the beautiful tiger swallow tail butterfly. But I couldn't help myself from putting the smiling faces on the bugs... Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Sweetness...
I was smiling all the while I was painting - what fun!
This will be the painting I exhibit at Allan's Artists Exhibition...
Have a wonderful holiday - Judith
